If you’re like me, you love watching the process of cake making — especially when it’s condensed down into a few minutes. This video from the folks at chocolatetelevision.com is mesmerizing. Navigate over to their site where, as they say,”television never tasted so good.”
Lolo over at VeganYumYum.Com (voted Best Food Blog of 2007) has a great idea for cupcake or cake decorations made from marzipan. She was featured on the Martha Stewart show on February 25, 2008. Again we see how critical the use of the internet and social tools like flickr and youtube are in reaching wider audiences.
Not only are the cupcakes beautiful, but the photography is awesome and immediately draws you in. I love the thoughtful detail in ideas like this.
Lolo posted the video demonstration from her Martha appearance.

This is so cool. I have been looking at some wonderful examples of innovative marketing for cake decorators and have found video postings to be a great tool. YouTube for example can be a powerful way to market your business, just by creating photo montage videos of all of your cakes. For those of you who teach classes, you may consider posting free cake decorating videos online to attract students. I have linked to many right here. Video is compelling method for showcasing your cake decorating business to prospective clients. The search results for YouTube videos are often the highest of all organic Google search engine rankings. What this means for you is that by posting an easy-to-create photo-montage of your cakes, you can reach those customers looking for your cake business.
Turn here showcases local businesses in locations across the world. Watch their video about the fabulous cake shop “I Dream of Cake” on Upper Grant Avenue in San Francisco, CA. I love the purse cake and the incredible detail in the brushwork.
OK back to the basics for all of my visitors looking for simple to follow, video instruction. More importantly, these videos are free. There is so much great information on the web for beginners. This video teaches you how long you should let a cake cool before frosting it, and also how to ice a crumb coat. Enjoy
