  1. Hi,
I’m just a home baker that occasionally sells to friends. Not licensed. I have had a little more than $600 in sales in the past couple months. Do I need to pay taxes on this. I’m not sure what I need to do or who I need to speak with. I tried calling and leaving a message but no one answers and no one has called me back. Thank you for your time and I appreciate your feedback.

    Kind regards,
    Becca

    1. Hi Becca, Yes. You will need to report any income even if you are a home baker that occasionally sells a cake. There is no minimum amount of income that you must report. Whether or not you owe taxes on this income is a whole different matter and depends on your overall tax situation. Here’s a link to the IRS for more information. This article about the difference between a business and a hobby may also be relevant to you.
